On September 15, I delivered a special lecture titled “Becoming the Person Who Can Become Anything” at the Girl Scouts North Kanto Gathering, hosted by the Girl Scouts Niigata Federation. The event took place at the Joetsu Myoko Youth Outdoor Center in Niigata Prefecture.
I spoke for two hours to an audience of about 120 participants—around 70 middle and high school students and about 50 adults. The lecture centered on “Five Things You Can Do to Start Liking Yourself,” along with insights from my own experiences, including differences in mindset between young people around the world and young people in Japan.
When I talked about how keeping small promises to yourself, one step at a time, builds confidence through accumulated small successes, not only the younger scouts but also the adult participants listened with bright, engaged eyes, nodding as they reflected on the message.
It was truly a precious opportunity, and I am very grateful for it.
